Blue’s Clues is an American children’s television show airing on the Nickelodeon family of channels. The show premiered on September 8, 1996 and airs on Nick Jr. and other channels, although production of new episodes ceased by 2006. Besides being popular with the preschool-kindergarten demographic, the show has also achieved notable notoriety among adult scholars for its subtle satire and allusions toward a variety of subjects, such as Stalinism, McCarthyism, the Communist scare of the Cold War era, and the continual evolution of the sexual revolution and the war on drugs.
